After looking more at this interesting document called: Report on moratorium and other issues concerning Landsbanki Íslands hf. One chapter caught my attention more than others. Page 9 and 10 in the document is the explanation of the banking crisis and economic crisis in Iceland. Here is a part of it:

The company Investec Trust Limited, registered on the island of Guernsey does a 127 billion ISK demand, or damages claim to the Kaupthing estate. Another company called Euro Investments Overseas registered on the Virgin Island of Tortola (the fund is owned by The Tchenguiz Family Trust) does a similar demand, but for 317 billion... »

Björgólfur Guðmundsson and his son Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson cannot explain loans, money transfers for more then 2 billion ISK to at least six companies belonging to them, located in Cyprus, Luxembourg and the island of Tortola (Virgin Island’s main island)

There are very mixed emotions about this decicion of President Ólafur R. Grímsson to refuse to sign the laws, and by that press the matter into a national referendum.
